AFOA BC Awards: Now Accepting Nominations!
AFOA BC will be presenting this years’ Best Practices and Band Administrator Awards at our upcoming Indigenous Financial Management Conference at the Marriott Pinnacle in Vancouver.
Each recipient will be awarded with:
- a memorable plaque
- $1500 certificate to use toward AFOA BC products, conferences or community-based workshops

2025 Best Practices Awards

While there are different awards for individuals, it is recognized that long term excellence is a result of a team commitment. These awards have been designed to recognize excellence based on the collective efforts of a community.
As best practices are employed in all communities, all submissions will be considered. There will be three awards presented based on community size.
Please indicate the size of the community (small: less than 250, medium: 251-500, large: over 500) you are nominating.
To apply write a short submission outlining some of the accomplishments in financial management, strategic planning and/or governance that exemplifies good or best practices within your community. Please provide as much detail and examples as you can.
2025 Band Administrator Award

Band Administrators face difficult challenges in their work and many have worked tirelessly on behalf of their community. It is time that we recognize and honour these leaders in our community.
To nominate a band administrator for this award, here are the requirements:
- 1-2 page letter describing your nominee’s excellence in areas of leadership, management, financial management or HR management. Include many examples and as much detail as possible.
- Provide your name, the nominees name and contact information, a profile, biography or resume that includes the number of years that the band administrator has been employed with the organization.
- 1-page letter of support from Chief and Council.
